Zoppe Italian Family Circus

My favorite event of the year! This is a traditional family style Italian circus. They come to Redwood City every year and entertain for a week. Don't miss it. It's a deeply heartfelt experience which will make you laugh and cry and feel full of wonder. Their web site has  a lot of photos and background information.

Field trip to the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum in San Jose

The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum houses the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts on exhibit in western North America. We saw a mummy and many other artifacts. The tour guide told us interesting stories from the times of Pharaos and pyramids. A very interesting place to visit, you will feel like being in a different world and time.

Homeschool Day at the California Academy of Science, San Francisco

This is a wonderful place to explore Nature and Science. There is the Rainforest dome, the planetarium, the aquarium, the African wildlife dioramas and always changing exhibits. Every time we go we discover something new.

The Children's Discovery Museum, San Jose

This was a great day. We learned how stone age people painted the cave walls. They used clay dissolved in water, charcoal and plant colors. The kids had fun making their own cave painting.

Together with a group of home schooling families we went to the Bay Area Glass Institute in San Jose. The institute staff shared with us the history of glass, showed us the facility and the making of a piece of glass. Most interesting was the demonstration of glass blowing by an artist.

Hidden Villa Farm school day October 3rd, 2011

Today we visited the Hidden Villa Farm for their annual Farm Home School Day. Ilbra and Arrun together with other children learned how to make butter. After shaking cream for a long time they could enjoy the fresh butter on crackers. We toured the farm garden and animal barn. At lunch time the farm served us home made tomato soup  and fresh baked bread. Yummy!
